March 3, Lake Stevens, Triplod Trout. It is truly great when the lures I tie work. I caught this dinner using a small nickel willow bladed safety pin spin with a 1/16 olive marabou jig. I seldom keep a catch, but these fish eat like a small salmon and dinner will be great. This fish was 22 inches and about 4 pounds. I used my light spinning rod and 6 Lb. line. He's bigger than my net so I used it to scoop him aboard. Yes that is my boat in the back ground. Fish on! |

Back to my canoe and a local pond. It was a cool day. The local waters have not warmed enough for the vegetation to hardly break the surface. This 3 plus pound find was near a pair of dead stands in about 8 feet of water. The tackle was one of my off the wall ideas. Its a number 2 Colorado spin harness and a large magnum willow dress treble. |

This is the setup that bagged the bass above. The two spins work at very low speed or can be burned on the surface. The inline spin is a brass bomber with a 1/16 ounce body. |

Bass two taken two days later on April 8. Note the tackle. It's a variation on a theme from two days prior. This time I ganged to spin harnesses together. It works better that a two bladed spinner bait in that both blades spin. I had two strikes on this setup. One failed to hook up and this 3 pound lady didn't. |
Just
fun, sun, and a 7" Zoom trick worm. All taken on April 27. The guy
on the right was a fish with big appetite. My bait was almost as large
as he was. The others in this quartet are 2 to 4 pounds of fun. Hooked
in the shade near the east bank.
